He is known for portraits, historical allegories, and italianate landscapes. He became the teacher of Hendrick Doorschodt, Dirk Kindt, or Kint, Coenraet Roepel, and Mattheus Verheyden. He is buried in the Haansbergen family grave in the Kloosterkerk, The Hague.
